Join us for a weekend-long knife making class taught by Guild member and knifemaker John O’Callaghan at the Elm Valley Barn in Sutton’s Bay, MI. John O’Callaghan has been making knives for 10 years, first learning the trade at Half Face Blades while he was living in San Diego. John has since moved to Suttons Bay, where he is converting a 115-year-old barn into his home, shop, and studio, the Elm Valley Barn.
The weekend workshop includes rustic camping on nearby property provided by Fellow Guild Member Matthew Vansteenis.
At the end of this workshop, you will go home with a fully functioning knife that you have created yourself.
Each member will be supplied with a section of steel through a process called Stock Removal you will learn how to customize the blade to your desire. Materials will be provided for you to complete your knife by shaping your handle and pinning the glue up for your finished product.
